This blog is about tracing my efforts to trace my family’s history from freedom to slavery, and to the original roots of ancestral freedom. It’s a search I began in 1996 after Dempsey H. Seastrunk passed me fire from the torch he lit. I’ve stalled and stopped several times but  I’ve drawn the line in the sand now. This is where I stage a comeback. I owe it to Dempsey to finish what he started. It’s okay to watch what happens. In fact, I’d appreciate your presence, your help, and your critiques. Thank you.

Your drawings are really beautiful. I sat here with a cup of tea and scrolled through almost all of them. So much emotion and charm and warmth. It was a pleasure.
